Introduction

Bladena is a specialist consultancy for the wind industry. It delivers unique advisory services and solutions throughout the entire lifetime of a wind turbine blade. It helps the industry’s stakeholders continuously improve their business.

Challenge

With a highly diverse value chain of stakeholders, many communication risks exist that can have damaging effects on business performance. For example, different definitions of components and other industry terms are overwhelming among stakeholders.

In their quest to deliver services that improve business performance, Bladena wanted a solution that could enable industry stakeholders to communicate better. This would eliminate communication breakdowns and allow them to engage in knowledge sharing and co-creation. Essentially, they wanted to make business more intelligent, more collaborative and more profitable.

Solution

We helped Bladena analyze insights from their many stakeholders, describe the challenge to be solved, and identify possible solutions. In close collaboration, we then designed a shared language for the industry. This eventually resulted in what is now known as Bladena’s Blade Handbook.

Result

The Blade Handbook has been an enormous success. The book has helped organizations improve their internal communications (breaking down silos) between engineering and marketing. They have improved collaboration and co-creation across the value chain. Ultimately, it has accelerated the green transition by adding value to the wind industry.  

For Bladena, The Blade Handbook has helped them grow their own business into a leading industry consultancy. They have gained a portfolio of new clients and projects. Our collaboration with Bladena has transformed into a long-term partnership.

Finally, it is worth mentioning that the Blade Handbook was recognized as a finalist for the Danish Design Award 2020.
