Designing for technology change

Introduction

How can industrial materials become part of the public space? That was the question behind a unique collaboration between Kolding Municipality, Port of Kolding, LM Wind Power, and a local street artist.

Challenge

The goal was to create a temporary installation that brought citizens closer to the wind industry—literally—while exploring creative reuse of wind turbine blades in an urban setting.

Solution

Through an open call, we helped shape a public space concept that combined storytelling, culture, and circular design. The result was a creative reuse of a full-scale wind turbine blade in an engaging street-level installation, co-developed with local partners.

Result

The installation ran from May to October 2024 and activated the harbour area in new ways. It sparked conversations about sustainability, industry, and public space—and brought citizens closer to a technology they normally only see from a distance.
