Introduction

Lolland Municipality is working on future coastal protection for Nakskov, including the harbourand surrounding urban areas.Three different solutions are being explored as part of the process.

Challenge

The municipality needed to communicate three technically complex coastal protection scenarios in a way that was easy for citizens, businesses and other stakeholders to understand.

The material had to provide a transparent and objective foundation for public meetings and dialogue about the advantages and consequences of the different solutions.

Solution

KIRT x THOMSEN developed an advanced concept explainer animation and a range of visual materials presenting: The Flood Gate, The Inner Gate and The Urban Solution.

We also helped develop the storytelling around the three scenarios, making them easier to compare and discuss than through traditional technical drawings and planning material alone.

The visual tools have helped make the different solutions more tangible and accessible, supporting a more informed dialogue between the municipality, citizens, businesses and other stakeholders.
